About Us

What New Wave Nigeria stands for, why we want to make a change, and who represents the organization.

Our Ethos

New Wave’s founding principle is to aid Nigerian communities in finding empowerment through unity.

Our Mission

New Wave Nigeria aims to alleviate poverty in Nigeria. There is a big need in many communities across Nigeria for humanitarian work. Our nonprofit aims to improve the general living conditions through generous donations from corporate donors, however, many in the community want to contribute. Everyone is welcome to help us achieve this goal.

Our Team

NWN is made up of a team of siblings, all knit together by the passion to bring positive change to Nigeria, a country close to each of their hearts.

Chibuzo Ikonte

Chibuzo is Nigerian – American. Chibuzo was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. Chibuzo attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois and received degrees in Economics and Statistics. Chibuzo now is a 1st year MBA student at Northwestern University – Kellogg School of Management with the intent to major in Strategy, Marketing, and Managing Organizations.      Chibuzo wants to alleviate the social and economic disparities that persist throughout Nigeria, and help grow this organization into one that can change communities in both Nigeria and throughout underserved communities in the world. Chibuzo was inspired to partner with New Wave Nigeria in large part because of the shared vision and purpose that all the members have in accomplishing these objectives rooted in God. He envisions the organization having a strategic approach to the many problems that persist today.

Chidinma Ikonte

Hi! I’m Chidinma. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, but originally from Abia State, Nigeria. I graduated in 2022 with a degree in Human Biology and Society, a major that taught me how to identify and maximize the interdisciplinary links between life sciences and social sciences. I currently attend the Medical College of Wisconsin, where I am working to attain my M.D. degree.

My passion for serving underserved communities in Nigeria and Africa as a whole led me to join the New Wave Nigeria team.

Josh Ebikwo

Hello! My Name is Josh Ebikwo,  a member of the team here at New Wave. I graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Supply Chain Engineering and Management Technology. I was also heavily involved with our Student Athlete Advisory Committee. I currently work as a Product Manager in Digital Transformation Professional Services.

My favorite thing about New Wave is our Ethos, which is to aid Nigerian communities in finding empowerment through unity. This is a founding principle in our work at New Wave. We want everything we do to sow a seed of unity that will bloom into the fruit of sustainable, ethical, and equitable community progress.

I’m so excited to be on this journey with you and the rest of the New Wave Nigeria! Glad to meet you!

Nathan Ebikwo

Nathan Ebikwo is a Nigerian-American born in Texas, and Purdue University graduate. He is the creator of New Wave Nigeria and, like each member of the team, holds an intense passion to serve and create maximum positive impact for underserved communities and people groups in Nigeria as well as across the globe. New Wave Nigeria seeks to aid and restore these communities by connecting donors to those in need through the organization resources, and support for good. Nathan is grateful for any help on our collective path to a better world.

Obioma Ugorji

Hello! I’m Obioma. I was born and raised in Sacramento, CA, but originally hail from Imo State, Nigeria. I graduated in 2023 with a degree in International Relations. Currently, I attend The George Washington University Law School, where I’m working to receive my J.D. degree.

I wanted to join New Wave even before I was acquainted with the organization. Their commitment to and passion for the youth aligns with my own personal identity and passions. Even though the country that we love has seen struggle and suffering, I argue that the youth that the nation produces are intelligent, capable, and able. The fact that they were born into a country and system that has failed them does not negate their natural rights as young people to be who they want to be. I am anchored in these passions and so is New Wave. For these reasons, I am thrilled to join New Wave in hopes that we can create new pathways and viable opportunities for the youth in Nigeria.
